Biography
Joni Snoro decided to form a Folk Metal band in Autumn 2009. He asked Joonas Nislin to play drums. The band also got a guitarist and bassist. He played guitar and sang. It was harder to find a keyboard player. In the end the guitarist and bassist left for their own projects. Juho Patinen joined the band as the guitarist around Christmas 2009. For a while they practiced Joni's songs with two guitars and drums, until the band found a keyboard player, Lise Richardson in the beginning of 2010. The band entered the 'Toukofest' band competition around this time. They were looking for a bassist, and the previous guitarist and bassist filled in for a while, until the first official bassist entered the band in spring 2010. The band was now complete. The first show was at 'Toukofest 2010', and FROSTTIDE made the shared second place in the band competition. The band released their first EP "Dawn Of Frost" at the end of Summer 2010. In the Winter 2010 FROSTTIDE came to the mutual decision to part ways with the bassist of that time and switched temporarily to another, who didn't stay in the band for long. Currently FROSTTIDE have no official bassist.
FROSTTIDE were the underground act of the year 2010, as awarded by Finnish Metal Awards.

The beautiful and magik thing with music is the ability to take the listener in far away landscapes, just by pressing one button. FROSTTIDE is one of these bands that richly have this huge advantage, and maybe this is due to the band's place of origin: Norway is a really beautiful country, even if temperatures are well below the freezing point, where night becomes pitch black most of the time. So, it's not by accident the existence of so many bands from that Holy land, inspired by the Folk element that sometimes touches the 'dance' mode (KORPIKLAANI), while others becomes more introvert with mood for solid headbanging (MOONSORROW). FROSTTIDE may be rookies in the music industry, but their sound speaks clearly of professionalism and great expertise. Listening to the band's latest EP, "Our Journey", the listener will instantly realize that these guys bleed Folk Metal with colorful guitar riffs and nice melodies, being the best companion for the frozen cold nights - don't be surprised if your feet start following the a Folk dancing steps! I wish the best to FROSTTIDE (which I'm sure they'll meet with some great record label soon) and I hope to have the opportunity to watch these guys live in a future 'PaganFest' here in the States. We want this kind of Folk bands for our Metal!
