Riot - Fire Down Under

The history of Metal music - in terms of influence and musical adaptation - has a critical period of separation, meaning the 1982-1983 years. I’m not talking about Death or Black Metal, just classic Metal and on-the-border Thrash Metal. Hence, starting making music after these dates borrowed or stole a lot from the NWOBHM scene while older outfits based their sound on the British (DEEP PURPLE, RAINBOW, JUDAS PRIEST), German (SCORPIONS, ACCEPT), American (BLUE ÖYSTER CULT, VAN HALEN) and Australian (AC/DC) Hard Rock idols of the time.

Heavy Load - Death Or Glory

OK, we all know who were the godfathers of epic-orientated Metal in America in the early 80s. But what about Europe? Many bands during the NWOBHM explosion demonstrated a warrior-influenced thematology but the first ‘genuine’ part of this movement would hardly offer an outfit credited as ‘the band that started it all in European epic Metal’.
