METAL KAOZ recently conducted an interview with Warrel Dane and Lenny Rutledge of reactivated Seattle metallers SANCTUARY who revealed that they have already written songs for a future SANCTUARY album. An excerpt follows:
Q: What are your touring plans to support the new album; will the US be first or Europe?
Warrel: First in the States for sure. We’re planning a release party in Seattle on November 14th and then do a short West Coast run for a couple of weeks and thinking about ideas getting to the East Coast but of course we’re going to do Europe. Once the record has been released, plans will become clearer.
Q: By the way, have you discussed or even chosen the songs from the new album to use in the upcoming shows?
Warrel: When we just played at the ‘Turock’ festival in Essen, Germany we did four new songs; [note: “Arise And Purify”, “Let The Serpent Follow Me” and “Question Existence Fading”], so we’ll see. I think once the album has been released, the fans’ reaction will probably dictate what songs people wanna hear live, maybe, I don’t know. At least we will play four for sure...
Lenny: This also depends on our set time too, because obviously when we have a slot of 45 minutes, we may not play four new ones since we want to do the old-school material too that some people expect to listen. But when we are headlining, you will definitely gonna hear four or five new ones.
Q: Last question guys; what is your thinking about SANCTUARY? Do you see the band releasing more albums or are you going to take one step at a time?
Warrel: Well, we already have some songs written (that are leftovers) for the next record, so I am pretty sure there’s going to be a next one and maybe a next one and then a next one... you never know. The future is so bright that I’ve got to wear shades, baby... (laughs)
Lenny: Right now the plan is to continue because we’re having a good time with everything, so I cannot see us slowing down right now. I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s going to be another record and will not take another 25 years this time... I think the next one will come out in two or three years.
