SAVN, the Norwegian Gothic/Folk Metal band featuring MIDNATTSOL singer Carmen Elise Espenaes (the younger sister of LEAVES' EYES singer Liv Kristine) and two members of THE SINS OF THY BELOVED, Stig Johansen and Anders Thue — will release its self-titled debut album on April 28th via CDR Records. The CD was recorded at Mastersound Studio in Germany with producer Alexander Krull and features guest appearances by Liv Kristine and Michelle Darkness (END OF GREEN). The cover artwork was created by designer Jan Yrlund (Darkgrove).
SAVN composed the music and Carmen all the lyrics. She is particularly fond of the song "I Am Free", which features a guest appearance by her sister, Liv Kristine (LEAVES' EYES, THEATRE OF TRAGEDY). It marks the first time the siblings have recorded one of Carmen's songs together. And in fact, perhaps Liv Kristine describes SAVN best from the point of view of an observer and participant of the album recordings: "If you like the old THEATRE OF TRAGEDY, you'll enjoy SAVN. I love the album!"
