Martin Walkyier (ex-SKYCLAD, THE CLAN DESTINED) just announced the cancellation of 'Martin Walkyier's Viking Funeral' for the reasons he explains in the announcement below:
"It is with a deep sense of regret that I have to announce the cancellation of my 'Martin Walkyier's Viking Funeral' shows which were scheduled to begin on Wednesday September 04th. They're all going to be re-booked for some time early next year, and all the tickets purchased will remain valid for the forthcoming shows. Following the success of last year's free event in Nottingham (all in aid of Cancer Research UK), I was approached by Xanden Concerts, who most kindly offered to help me take my event to the next level this year.
In my naive opinion a set of classic old-school SKYCLAD tunes played by myself & Italy's very finest folk-Metal musos ELVENKING, plus DEVILMENT (Dani Filth's debut of his diabolical brand-new project), WAKO (Portugal) & HELGRIND (UK) were well worth the £17.50 (GBP) cost of admission plus a couple of quid on the door donation to CRUK. Sadly it appears that the metal magazines who were meant to be sponsoring this event couldn't even be bothered to give us either a mention or an advert anywhere - Doh! Having devoted the last 30 years of my life to metal music I abso-fucking-lutely refuse to give-up without a fight!!!"
