It's actually kind of crazy that a prominent musician as Ross The Boss plays at a venue like The Abyss. Although it is cozy it has a capacity of just about 100 people that made sure this was going to be crazy night. Strangely, the ticket-sales had been slow which I don't get; this opportunity will not come again. And the place was actually quite empty to start with, it took until gig-time before people showed up. For sure, that it was a Sunday I guess contributed to people's reluctance to go out which is their loss really since this was a night to remember. That was clear from opening “Blood Of The Kings” already. What a drive, such amazing intensity. Being in the front, it was almost as becoming a part of the band, that's how close they were.

After “Death Tone” which was a really cool feature in the set came one of the songs I was hoping for but really didn't dare to hope they would come. I remember the first time I put on “Kings Of Metal” just when it was released and all hell broke loose when “Wheels Of Fire” kicked off the album. It was among the coolest things I've ever heard. And to get to hear it live from a band that sounds absolutely fantastic was like a dream come true. For “Hatred” it was mentioned that this was the part of the show for them to have fun. It's a complex and quite loose track but that one too sounded great and I really like it when bands to odd songs like this one. And that's how the show continued the same fine way. Kudos should be sent to vocalist Marc Lopes. He did great and carried the MANOWAR legacy in a fantastic way. Perhaps he doesn't reach all the highest notes but what he did work and he sounded great.

It was also great to hear the crowd singing for “Blood Of My Enemies” even if couldn't measure up to 'Up The Hammers' in 2017 when ROSS THE BOSS headlined the Friday night with a MANOWAR set and the packed out venue overrode the band, amps as well as PA with their singing. But it was still good at The Abyss and it was clear that everyone present was there to support and that they really enjoyed what the band did.

Snowy Shaw showed up and did guest-appearances on a few songs as well. He's fantastic to watch and did a great job here too. Perhaps overstayed his welcome a bit since he stuck around for a few songs and then came back up again to do some more. Another favorite appearing towards the end of the set was “Kill With Power”, another song going down well with the enthusiastic crowd.

It all was a really impressive set, great song-selection, a few surprises and a fantastic musical performance. Also that Ross himself was at the merchandise booth ready to sign autographs and pose for pictures almost before the crowd had made it across the room. That kind of accessibility made the night even better, it was a huge show in a very small place.
