Satan - Cruel Magic

They say that “third time’s a charm” and this would apply to UK’s NWOBHM legends of SATAN if the two albums they released after 1987’s “Suspended Sentenced” would have been mediocre... Ha, not even close, because SATAN, as super-charged teenagers, have dropped two impressive LPs which continue the saga “Court In The Act” started 35 years ago. And this brings us to the charm titled “Cruel Magic” which has failed in every aspect to break the impressive winning streak these fine UK blokes have been on since 2013.

Heir Apparent - The View From Below

Wooah! The easy and mellow beat strikes immediately. It's a slow moving groove that kicks off HEIR APPARENT's new “The View From Below” and it is right in the middle of the smooth sound of “One Small Voice” and the raw unpolished feel from “Graceful Inheritance”. It couldn't be more right? Well, opening track “Man In The Sky” is a monster of a song and raises things further. It constantly increases in intensity and the crescendo coming with the encore of the last chorus is phenomenal. The desperation in Will Shaw's voice makes the hair in my neck stand straight up. His voice is very crisp and clean, almost boyish which make it all very unique.

Professor Black - Sunrise

“Sunrise” is the second of the three PROFESSOR BLACK full length albums that managed to catch us off-guard for two main reasons: a) the amount of music released under the same moniker at the same time, and b) the diversity between the three LPs. That’s right, the three records have as different musical content as the cover artworks, and in this case you should be getting a strong BATHORY vibe and if you don’t... Well, you have some homework to do and - trust me - it will be extremely pleasant.

Professor Black - I Am The Rock

Seeing Chris Black disbanding DAWNBRINGER made me think that he had decided to focus all of his writing energy on HIGH SPIRITS, but soon enough I discovered that I could not be more wrong. Yeah, under the PROFESSOR BLACK moniker, Chris pulled off the safety pin and started putting all of his material inside the vinyl press, and after one EP, there are three LPs waiting to see the light of day. That’s right; aside from “I Am The Rock”, there are two more albums coming our way, and each of them has a different style, so let’s get on with it, shall we?
